Tinubu Reaffirms Backing for AMBO Ahead of 2026 Osun Governorship Poll

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15, 2026, off-cycle election.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, disclosed this after a meeting with the President in Abuja, describing the engagement as productive and reassuring as preparations intensify for the crucial poll.

The APC flagbearer was accompanied by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and former Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

In a statement posted on his official X handle, Oyebamiji expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to progressive governance.

“As we prepare for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, I am strengthened by Mr President’s enduring belief in my capacity and in the principles of responsible leadership and development,” he said.

He noted that the President’s vision for national economic renewal would serve as a guiding framework for his administration if elected.

Oyebamiji pledged to consolidate unity within the APC in Osun, deepen grassroots mobilisation, and unveil a clear, actionable blueprint aimed at repositioning the state for sustainable growth.

According to him, his ambition is rooted in inclusive governance, people-centred policies, and long-term economic stability.

He assured party faithful and residents that collective efforts would deliver an Osun State aligned with “our shared aspirations,” as the party intensifies preparations for the 2026 contest.
