Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has suggested that Chelsea may need to play a part in helping Arsenal in the Premier League title race.
With Arsenal nine points clear of Manchester City and just seven matches remaining, Cascarino believes the Gunners could still benefit from other teams’ results.
Arsenal, now out of the Carabao Cup after losing the final to City and eliminated from the FA Cup at Southampton, focus solely on the league. They will next face Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, while Manchester City travel to face Chelsea in a crucial fixture. The two title contenders will then meet at the Etihad in a key showdown.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino said:
“If you ask me today, and Arsenal have to go to the Etihad for a victory, I think City will beat them. Eight out of ten times at the moment, City would beat Arsenal. It’s really important that Chelsea, who City play next away, get some sort of result for Arsenal. I think they need a bit more help from other teams. I don’t see Arsenal winning every game, I just don’t.”
The former striker’s comments highlight the intense tension in the closing stages of the Premier League, where every point—and every fixture—could prove decisive in the race for the title.
