Wike Reportedly Survives Midair Scare as Jet Suffers Engine Failure
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike reportedly had a close brush with death on Monday after the private jet conveying him suffered engine failure midair.
A video circulating online captured a tense moment in the aircraft, with the minister audibly praying for divine intervention as pilots battled to stabilize the jet.
In the footage, Wike could be heard crying out in faith, saying: “Satan, you are a liar. Father, please take charge.”
These statements, repeated with urgency, were reportedly made during the aircraft’s altitude drop, triggering concern among those onboard.
As of the time of filing this report, the minister has not issued any official confirmation or denial regarding the incident.
However, sources in Rivers State familiar with the matter said they believed the video to be authentic and expressed gratitude for the minister’s safety.
“If this is anything to go by, this would not be the first time the minister has narrowly escaped death,” a source said.
Shortly after the 2023 presidential election, Wike had disclosed a past attempt on his life.
Speaking at a public event at the time, the minister alleged he had been poisoned during a political meeting, leading to liver damage.
