Yoruba Actress Funmi Awelewa Opens Up on Painful Past, Says Repeated Betrayal Has Left Her Heartbroken

Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa has opened up about her emotional struggles, revealing that years of betrayal and unresolved childhood trauma have left her feeling lonely, exhausted and heartbroken.

In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram, the Yoruba movie star, whose real name is Orijafunmi, lamented that despite spending years healing from painful experiences in her childhood, she continues to encounter similar challenges in adulthood.

The actress expressed frustration over repeatedly meeting the wrong people and admitted that she has been unfortunate in her relationships, a situation she believes is linked to the betrayals she has endured over the years.

According to Awelewa, her inability to find genuine connections has contributed to her remaining single, adding that the emotional burden has become overwhelming.

Calling on God for divine intervention, the actress said she recently broke down after reflecting on her past experiences and the recurring disappointments in her life.

“For the first time in my life, I’m tired,” she wrote.

“It took me years to heal from betrayal and childhood trauma, yet I keep facing the same issues. Looking back on what I experienced while growing up, I feel lonely and sad.

“I’m tired of meeting the wrong people. I’m not lucky when it comes to finding myself in people. May God fight this battle for me.”

Her emotional revelation has since sparked reactions from fans and colleagues, many of whom have taken to social media to offer words of encouragement and support.
