Veteran Nollywood actor and pastor, Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, is dead.
Adeshina died on Monday, June 29, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
His death was confirmed on Tuesday by the founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, in a post on Instagram.
Oloketuyi wrote: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Taiwo Adeshina, a beloved Nollywood legend.
“Your remarkable contributions to the Yoruba movie industry and the lives you touched will never be forgotten. May God grant you eternal rest and comfort your family, friends, and fans. Rest in peace, legend.”
Taiwo Adeshina, known by his stage name Elegbeje Ado, was one of the respected figures in the Yoruba movie industry. He was also a pastor and was widely celebrated for his contributions to Nollywood over the years.
His death has thrown the Nigerian entertainment industry into mourning, with tributes expected from colleagues, fans and well-wishers.
