The Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA)Daniel Odunayo, has pledged to deliver more people-oriented projects as his administration marks its first 100 days in office.

To commemorate the milestone, Odunayo inaugurated seven newly constructed roads, one in each ward of the council area, describing the projects as strategic interventions aimed at boosting the local economy and improving accessibility.

In addition, the council chairman donated three buses to the Council Legislature, the Office of the Chairman, and the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to enhance operational efficiency and ease of movement.

Odunayo disclosed that his administration plans to embark on the construction of additional primary schools, markets, housing units, and sporting facilities, as well as expand existing local markets. He also announced the forthcoming inauguration of a 45-member task force to enforce environmental cleanliness across the council.

According to him, the education sector has received significant attention through the distribution of GCE forms, learning materials, exercise books and school bags to pupils, alongside ongoing youth empowerment and skills acquisition programmes.

“Today, we open seven strategic roads, one in each ward, to boost our economy and improve accessibility. This is just the beginning of our infrastructure revolution,” Odunayo said. “We also believe in investing in our future—our children. Education is key, and we’re committed to supporting our young minds.”

Speaking at the event, Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, commended the council chairman for policies focused on improving residents’ welfare.

Ojelabi revealed plans to deepen public accountability through interactive engagements where council achievements would be presented, residents would question elected officials, and an independent performance assessment of council chairmen would be conducted by a designated committee.

He added that local government autonomy, coupled with the tax reforms scheduled to commence in January, would significantly boost council revenues and enable the execution of more developmental projects.

The APC chairman, however, cautioned council officials to sustain high performance standards, warning that cases of underperformance would be reported to the Local Government Commission for appropriate action.
