A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on party leaders at both national and state levels to consider Dr. Bala Mai Jama’a Wunti as a consensus candidate for the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.
Khamis Musa Darazo made the appeal, arguing that Wunti’s emergence would align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises economic recovery, improved governance, and stronger service delivery across Nigeria.
Darazo emphasized that Bauchi State needs leadership capable of effectively implementing federal initiatives at the grassroots level, noting that internal unity within the APC would be critical to securing electoral success in 2027.
He described Dr. Wunti as a seasoned administrator with strong public engagement and leadership experience, adding that these qualities should be central to the party’s consideration in selecting its flagbearer.
According to him, adopting a consensus-driven approach would reduce internal party tensions, strengthen cohesion, and enhance the APC’s chances at the polls.
Darazo further stressed that discussions around the governorship ticket should prioritise broad acceptability among stakeholders and focus on sustaining party unity ahead of the upcoming elections.
