Former Ogun State Governor and Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel is set to feature as Special Guest of Honour at the 7th Annual Lecture of Freedom Online, a high-profile gathering focused on Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, the economy, security challenges and the country’s future trajectory.

The lecture, organised by Swaaya Limited, publishers of Freedom Online, holds today, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Sheraton Lagos Hotel, Ikeja, from 9:00 a.m.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will deliver the keynote as Special Guest Speaker, while former Minister of Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed chairs the occasion. Eze Anaba, President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and Editor of Vanguard, serves as Chief Host, with Gabriel Akinadewo, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of Freedom Online, as host.

Themed “2027 Elections: Economy, Security & Nigeria’s Future,” the event is expected to spark robust discussions on the political landscape ahead of the next general elections and the pressing economic and security issues facing the nation.

Daniel, who governed Ogun State between 2003 and 2011, brings deep experience in public administration and national politics to the conversation. His presence, alongside other leading political, media and public-sector figures, is anticipated to enrich debates on governance and the road beyond 2027.

Coming at a time when political activities and national discourse around the 2027 polls are gaining momentum, the lecture will convene politicians, media executives, policymakers, professionals and other stakeholders to examine the challenges and opportunities that will shape Nigeria’s political and socio-economic path.
