2027 Hajj: Lagos Fixes Pilgrims’ Fare at N7.88m

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has fixed the final fare for intending pilgrims participating in the 2027 Hajj at N7,882,822.

The fare represents a slight reduction from the N7.9 million paid by Lagos pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj.

The Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, attributed the reduction to the efforts of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), led by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf.

Ajomagberin said the NAHCON leadership had remained committed to reducing the cost of Hajj and making the pilgrimage more affordable and seamless for Nigerian pilgrims.

He said, “The credit for this reduction goes to the NAHCON Chairman, who, since assuming office, has pledged to work towards reducing the Hajj fare and making the exercise seamless for Nigerian pilgrims.”

The Board secretary urged intending pilgrims to complete payment of the N7,882,822 fare on or before September 26, 2026, in line with the deadline set by NAHCON.

According to him, early payment would enable the Board to process and secure the necessary travel documents within the timeframe stipulated by Saudi Arabian authorities.

Ajomagberin also assured intending pilgrims that the Lagos State Government would continue to prioritise their welfare throughout their stay in the Holy Land.

He said the government would provide standard accommodation, daily meals, including local delicacies, as well as comfortable transportation within Saudi Arabia.

The pilgrims will also have access to organised Ziyarah visits to historical sites in Makkah and Madinah.

Other services to be provided by the state include medical care, payment of Basic Travel Allowance (BTA), and support for the slaughtering of Hadayah rams.

Ajomagberin reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that Lagos pilgrims enjoy a comfortable, organised and hitch-free experience throughout the 2027 Hajj exercise.
