The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Lagos East Senatorial District has intensified mobilisation efforts in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The call was made during a well-attended rally held at the Ikorodu Town Hall, where party leaders, political appointees, residents and youths converged to demonstrate solidarity with the ruling party and the President.
Speaking at the event, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, attributed the district’s political success to unity among leaders in Ikorodu, noting that the cohesion had reflected in the quality of representatives produced by the area.
Ojelabi also praised Ikorodu’s impressive performance in the ongoing electronic registration of party members, urging stakeholders to sustain the tempo to consolidate the gains of the Tinubu administration.
“Ikorodu people are focused and doing well, as shown by the ongoing e-registration where they are leading. This shows readiness. What we are doing now is selling the party by rolling out achievements and consolidating what the administration has done so far,” he said.
Also speaking, Senator Mukhail Abiru (APC, Lagos East) said stakeholders across the senatorial district had unanimously endorsed President Tinubu based on his leadership capacity and bold reforms, which he said were already yielding positive outcomes.
Abiru described Ikorodu as a traditionally progressive community with a large and vibrant voting population, particularly among young people. He disclosed that no fewer than 100,000 new members had been registered in the district through the ongoing e-registration exercise.
“Ikorodu has always been progressive, just like the President stands for progress. We have displayed this since the era of late Governor Lateef Jakande. During the 2023 general elections, Ikorodu delivered the highest votes in Lagos State, and we have now registered over 100,000 new supporters,” he said.
Earlier, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Rep. Babajimi Benson, urged residents to vote massively for President Tinubu in 2027, citing the administration’s economic and policy reforms, which he said had received validation from the World Bank.
“We are celebrating our President because his policies are already yielding results. Hospitals have been built and more than 200 people have been employed,” Benson stated.
He explained that the rally was organised to appreciate the President for reforms that are beginning to positively impact the economy and governance.
In their remarks, members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Prince Abiodun Ogunleye and Bashorun Olorunfunmi, said the rally was aimed at boosting party morale and reaffirming support for President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Lawmakers representing Ikorodu in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Moshood Aro (Ikorodu Constituency II) and Mr Gbolahan Ogunleye (Ikorodu Constituency I), said the gathering was also to commend the President’s inclusive leadership style and reform agenda, which they noted had earned international recognition.
Other speakers, including Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs Bisola Olusanya, and Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, stressed the importance of party loyalty, sustained grassroots mobilisation and youth engagement in securing APC’s victory in the 2027 elections.
