Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has paid a heartfelt birthday tribute to actress Joke Silva as she turns 65, describing her as a dear friend, colleague and “baby sister.”
In an Instagram post shared on Monday, RMD reflected on more than four decades of friendship with Silva while acknowledging the difficult period she is navigating following the recent death of her husband, veteran actor Olu Jacobs, who passed away at the age of 84.
“Happy birthday to my aburo @ajokesilva! Like I always say, 65 nor be beans!” RMD wrote. He went on to praise Silva’s “life of grace,” her dedication to family, craft and country, and her immeasurable contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry.
Calling her “Ajokijoks” — a nickname only he, as her egbon, uses — RMD said it remained a joy to call her friend, baby sister and colleague. He celebrated her commitment to excellence and the many lives she has touched over the years.
“May this new chapter bring you strength, peace, joy and many more beautiful years,” he added, wishing her continued grace and fulfilment.
The tribute comes just days after Olu Jacobs’ death. Silva and her family have received an outpouring of condolences and tributes from colleagues and admirers across the entertainment industry.
