Nollywood actor Aremu Afolayan has publicly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, commending the administration’s policies and leadership approach.

Speaking during a campaign event, Afolayan defended the current government’s performance, noting that his personal experience contradicts widespread claims of economic hardship across the country.

According to the actor, he has continued to thrive despite prevailing economic challenges, stating that he is “doing very well.”

Afolayan particularly praised Tinubu’s diplomatic engagement with the United Arab Emirates, which led to the lifting of the travel restrictions previously imposed on Nigerians. He described the move as a significant achievement that reflects the president’s commitment to improving Nigeria’s global standing.

“When people say the country is hard, I don’t really know what that is,” he said. “When the UAE banned Nigerians from entering their country, it was President Tinubu who intervened and helped lift the ban. I was very happy and praised him for that.”

He further noted that while Nigeria faces numerous challenges, many citizens are quick to criticise rather than acknowledge the administration’s efforts.

“The good work President Tinubu is doing is why I support him. He is trying to unite Nigerians,” Afolayan added.

Addressing security concerns, the actor also downplayed reports of insurgency, suggesting that such narratives are exaggerated.

“And when you watch the news about insurgency, don’t mind them—it’s all scripted,” he said.

His remarks come amid ongoing national conversations about economic reforms, security challenges, and political alignments as the country gradually looks ahead to the 2027 elections.
