Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has strongly criticised media entrepreneur, Dele Momodu, over his recent remarks comparing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to former military ruler Sani Abacha.

In a statement, Fani-Kayode described Momodu’s comments during an interview on Channels Television as “misplaced” and reflective of what he termed a “worrisome level of cognitive dissonance.”

While acknowledging his long-standing relationship with Momodu, Fani-Kayode said the publisher appeared “drained and out of touch,” urging him to take a break from political commentary.

He accused Momodu of being disrespectful to the President, Vice President, and other top government officials, adding that such remarks undermine public confidence in governance.

Fani-Kayode also took aim at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where Momodu is affiliated, describing the party as weak and lacking structure to mount a credible opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, the ADC should focus on rebuilding its ranks and strengthening its political base rather than criticising the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He further argued that the growing support for the APC is driven by public confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and policies, dismissing opposition figures as lacking viable alternatives.

Defending the President, Fani-Kayode maintained that Tinubu’s administration has started on a strong footing and would end successfully, expressing confidence in the government’s long-term direction.

He concluded by urging Momodu to reconsider his political stance and align with what he described as a more progressive path.
