A member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention planning committee, Dino Melaye, has declared that no force will stop the party’s national convention, insisting that organizers have a valid contract and have fully paid for the venue.
Reports had emerged that the ADC national convention, scheduled for Tuesday, faced disruption after the party was allegedly denied access to its booked location.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show, Melaye, who also serves as chairman of the protocol committee, alleged that there were attempts to halt the event, including efforts to shut the venue gates and force organizers out.
According to him, the planning committee stood its ground, relying on a duly signed agreement and confirmed payment with the facility’s owners.
“We have a duly signed contract, and we paid fully. We have receipts. Nobody will stop us,” Melaye said, insisting that the convention would go ahead as planned.
He maintained that the party remains resolute in its political ambitions, expressing confidence in the growing strength of the ADC and its ability to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye added that despite the alleged attempts to disrupt preparations, the convention would proceed, emphasizing that legal agreements must be respected.
The development highlights rising tensions around opposition party activities as the African Democratic Congresscontinues to position itself as a challenger in Nigeria’s political landscape.
