The Lagos State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the death of his mother, Mrs. Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso).

Rhodes-Vivour shared the news in a post on his official X account on Monday, expressing gratitude for what he described as a life well lived while mourning the loss of a woman he said embodied love, compassion and selflessness.

“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso), a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace,” he wrote.

A statement issued on behalf of the Rhodes-Vivour family and signed by his brother, Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, confirmed the passing and noted that details of the funeral arrangements would be announced at a later date.

In a heartfelt tribute, the family celebrated the late matriarch as a compassionate and generous woman whose kindness and unwavering support left a lasting impact on everyone around her.

“She loved fiercely and gave endlessly. In her arms, we found home; in her smile, we found peace. Though she is gone from our sight, she is never gone from our hearts,” the tribute read.

The family said Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour’s legacy of love, strength and devotion would continue to inspire generations.
