The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, has unveiled a seven-point development agenda that will guide his administration if elected governor in the 2027 elections.
Adebutu presented the blueprint during a media interaction with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Monday.
The PDP candidate, accompanied by his running mate, Alhaja Latifat Showunmi-Kolapo, as well as the party’s senatorial and House of Representatives candidates, described his ambition to govern Ogun State as a personal calling driven by a passion for public service.
According to him, his pursuit of leadership has come at significant personal and financial cost, but his commitment to improving the lives of Ogun residents remains unwavering.
Adebutu stated that genuine public service requires sacrifice, noting that he had invested much of his personal resources over the years in efforts aimed at supporting communities across the state. He also urged journalists to remain professional and objective in their reporting, despite external pressures.
The PDP flagbearer identified seven key areas that would form the foundation of his administration: security, grassroots development, urban planning, economic growth, education, healthcare, and women and sports development.
He stressed that insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges and pledged to prioritize measures that would strengthen security across Ogun State. Adebutu also emphasized the importance of improving the welfare of security personnel, arguing that better working conditions would enhance their effectiveness in protecting lives and property.
On governance, the PDP candidate reiterated his support for local government autonomy, describing it as a critical step toward improving service delivery and accelerating development at the grassroots level.
He maintained that empowering local councils would ensure that development reaches rural communities while reducing the burden on state governments.
“We must ensure local government autonomy if we want credible performance at the grassroots,” Adebutu said, adding that decentralisation would promote accountability and deliver better development outcomes across the state.
