Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has officially welcomed global music star Davido to the state, following his recent appointment to a కీల role in the governor’s 2026 re-election campaign.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has been named Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Council Committee, a position that places him at the forefront of mobilising young voters in support of the governor’s second-term ambition.
The award-winning singer had earlier confirmed the appointment via his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he expressed enthusiasm about contributing to what he described as a smooth and impactful campaign process.
During his visit to Osun, Davido received a rousing welcome from supporters, underscoring his popularity and influence among the youth demographic.
Speaking at a press briefing, Governor Adeleke formally presented the artist as a key member of the campaign structure, describing him as a “dynamic mobiliser” capable of energising young people across the state.
In an official statement, the governor said he was delighted to welcome his nephew and the internationally acclaimed musician into the campaign fold, noting that Davido’s reach, passion, and connection with the youth would be instrumental in driving engagement.
Adeleke also used the opportunity to highlight his administration’s efforts in youth development over the past three years, citing policies and programmes designed to create opportunities across multiple sectors.
He reassured residents of his continued commitment to their welfare and called for sustained support for the Imole continuity agenda as preparations for the 2026 election gather momentum.
