An autopsy has officially cleared Ifayomi Oba Edu Jogbodo Orunmila of any involvement in the death of 22-year-old Afrofuji singer, Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the findings following a detailed investigation into the controversial circumstances surrounding the young artist’s death.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, disclosed that the autopsy was conducted by a consultant anatomic pathologist. The report revealed that the late singer had harmful levels of tramadol, its metabolites, and methamphetamine in his system.
According to the findings, Destiny Boy died from aspiration pneumonitis caused by ingesting these toxic substances. The report also confirmed January 17, 2026, as the official date of death.
Destiny Boy rose to fame in 2019 after his Fuji-inspired cover of Davido’s hit song “If” went viral, earning him widespread recognition in Nigeria’s music scene. He went on to release several tracks, including “Lamba,” “One Transaction,” “Gbese,” “Billion Dollar,” “Mio Gbonkankan,” and “Lowkey.”
His sudden death earlier this year sparked public concern and calls for a thorough investigation, which have now been addressed with the release of the autopsy results.
The late singer is survived by his partner, Iremide, and their child, born in November 2024.
