Mr Bassey Ewah has assumed duty as the 46th Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, replacing Mr Emmanuel Adesina, who recently retired from active service.
Ewah formally took over the leadership of the Plateau State Police Command on Thursday, addressing officers and men of the command shortly after assuming office.
In his address, the new police commissioner pledged to sustain the prevailing peace in the state and assured residents that his tenure would be marked by diligence and commitment.
“I stand before you today as the 46th Commissioner of Police in this state. I want to assure you that it will not be business as usual under my watch,” he said.
He noted that the command would build on the existing peace and work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
“We will build on the already established peace in this great state, and we will work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all citizens,” Ewah stated.
The commissioner charged officers and men of the command to give their best in the discharge of their duties, urging them to work collectively towards restoring Plateau State’s image as the Home of Peace and Tourism.
“I charge all officers and men of this command to bring their best game forward and work towards taking Plateau back to its original state as the Home of Peace and Tourism,” he said.
Ewah also called on residents of the state to support the police in achieving lasting peace, stressing the importance of community cooperation in addressing security challenges.
“We will work with the good people of Plateau to identify and address security challenges, and we will not rest until we achieve our goals,” he added.
The new commissioner further pledged to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to enhance security across the state.
