The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State, Umar Bolori, has apologised for rejecting the party’s newly constituted transitional and registration committees, admitting that his earlier stance was an error.

Bolori made the public apology during a press briefing in Maiduguri on Tuesday evening.

In January, the Borno ADC chapter had distanced itself from the Transitional and Registration Committees allegedly set up by party chieftain Kashim Imam.

At the time, Bolori described members of the committees as “political jobbers” attempting to infiltrate the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, in a dramatic reversal, the state chairman said recent consultations and reconciliation efforts had led to a better understanding of the issues.

“I am here to set some records straight in our great party, ADC in Borno State.

You may wish to recall that on January 12, 2026, I addressed our party’s national leaders, state stakeholders, and members on serious allegations, misconducts and irreconcilable differences,” Bolori said.

“Following a series of meetings and holistic reconciliation, we were made to understand that we acted in error, and hence, we apologise to our national party leaders, particularly H.E. Kashim Ibrahim Imam, and pledge our loyalty to him in the interest of our party and its members.”

Committees Recognised
Bolori formally acknowledged the legitimacy of the inaugurated committees, declaring the party’s full acceptance of their authority.

“On this note, we officially recognise and accept the inaugurated State Transitional Committee under the leadership of Alhaji Ali Bukar Wurge and the Registration Committee under the leadership of Peter Biya,” he stated.

He called on party members and stakeholders across the state to rally behind the committees to ensure the smooth implementation of their mandates.

Membership Drive to Begin
The chairman also announced that the ADC in Borno would commence its membership registration exercise next week as part of preparations for future electoral activities.

“I want to use this opportunity to inform our party supporters that by next week, we are going to start our membership registration exercise.

We urge everyone to participate in the voter registration also,” he added.

The reconciliation marks a significant step toward stabilising the ADC’s structure in Borno State as political parties begin positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
