Afrobeats star Davido has found himself at the centre of fresh controversy after mistakenly directing criticism at the wrong individual amid his ongoing custody dispute with estranged partner Sophia Momodu.
The online flare-up followed a reported courtroom exchange between the singer and lawyer Ebelechukwu Enedah, who represents Momodu.
The disagreement allegedly stemmed from references to Davido’s late son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, during proceedings — a move the singer had earlier described as crossing a personal line.
Social Media Mix-Up
In a heated Instagram post criticising Enedah’s conduct, Davido mistakenly reposted content from Nigerian gospel artiste Tosin Bee, apparently assuming a connection between the singer and the lawyer.
“And she has a son. Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing… Useless people,” Davido wrote.
The post quickly drew attention, with many users pointing out the apparent case of mistaken identity.
Tosin Bee Responds
Tosin Bee promptly addressed the situation, distancing himself from the legal dispute and clarifying that he had no involvement in the matter.
“Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago,” he stated, adding that he believed the incident was a mix-up and expressed support for Davido during the difficult period.
“I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you.
I love you brother,” he added.
Public Reactions
The incident has since generated widespread conversation across social media, with observers highlighting the risks of misidentification in emotionally charged public disputes.
While the custody case remains a deeply personal matter, the latest episode underscores how quickly legal battles can spill into the digital space — sometimes with unintended consequences.
