A former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, has been elected as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state following a widely attended and peaceful state congress.
The congress, held at Okpara Square in Enugu on Wednesday, drew delegates and party stakeholders from across the state, marking a significant moment in the political realignment within Enugu.
Announcing the results, Tobechukwu Okonkwo, Secretary of the State Congress Committee for Enugu State, declared the process peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the collective will of party members.
According to the results, Chukwunweike secured the position of State Chairman, while Lady Peace Nnaji emerged as Deputy State Chairperson.

Chukwudi Edozie — State Secretary
Uche Obute — Publicity Secretary
Mrs. Esther Ede — State Woman Leader
Hon. Nnamdi Nwafor — Vice Chairman (Enugu East Senatorial District)
Fabian Onah — Vice Chairman (Enugu North Senatorial District)
Chimaobi David — Vice Chairman (Enugu West Senatorial District)
The delegates adopted the affirmation method, with a resounding chorus of “ayes” signaling unanimous endorsement of the newly elected executives.
The congress attracted prominent personalities, including Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, his deputy, and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders who observed the proceedings.
Party officials described the successful conduct of the congress as a demonstration of unity and internal democracy within the APC in Enugu State.
