Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Balogun has dismissed widespread rumours claiming she is dead, with her management confirming that the actress is alive, healthy and in good spirits.

The clarification followed a viral social media report, particularly on TikTok, alleging that the actress died in a hospital in Ikeja.

In a statement released on Sunday, Faithia Balogun’s management, The Hype Agency, described the report as false, malicious and defamatory, urging the public, fans, media organisations and colleagues to ignore the claim and avoid sharing unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic.

The management also announced that legal action has commenced against individuals responsible for creating and circulating the false report.

“We wish to categorically state that these reports are completely false. Faithia Balogun is alive, hale, healthy and in good spirits. There is absolutely no truth to the rumours of her death or any illness,” the statement read.

The agency thanked fans and well-wishers who reached out with genuine concern, expressing appreciation for their continued love, prayers and unwavering support.

The latest incident adds to a growing list of Nigerian celebrities who have been victims of fake death reports. Veteran actors including Olu Jacobs, Pete Edochie, Odunlade Adekola and musician Lagbaja have all previously dismissed similar rumours.

The recurring trend has renewed concerns over the increasing spread of misinformation on social media and the emotional distress such false reports inflict on public figures, their families and fans.
