The federal government has officially discontinued the criminal charges filed against Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central.

A notice of discontinuance was filed in suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/195/2025, effectively ending the legal pursuit by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF).
The legal document, dated December 12, 2025, was filed pursuant to sections 108(1), 108(2)(a), and 108(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
The notice reads: “The Office of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation intends to discontinue proceeding in this matter.”
The document was signed by M.B. Abubakar, director of public prosecutions of the federation, and Aderonke Imana, the assistant chief state counsel, on behalf of the AGF and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.
Court records confirm the notice was endorsed by the Federal High Court, Abuja, on December 15, 2025, and certified as a true copy on December 18, 2025.
This withdrawal follows a separate, related legal development. In December 2025, Senate President Godswill Akpabio filed a ₦200 billion defamation suit against Akpoti-Uduaghan over allegations of sexual harassment she made against him.
On Thursday, Akpabio announced that he had directed his lawyers to withdraw all court cases he instituted against individuals over alleged defamation, suggesting a broader effort to end legal hostilities and focus on legislative matters in 2026.
