Former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, on Friday in Abuja attended the inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari, but said his presence does not mean he had returned to the All Progressives Congress from the Social Democratic Party.

Osoba said, “I owe President Muhammadu Buhari a duty to be here because he appointed me the Managing Director of Daily Times 31 years ago. I have been with him longer than anybody; he gave me the glory of redeeming my image as a professional journalist when he brought me back to Daily Times as managing director.

“I therefore owe him the duty of rejoicing with him today for the great thing that God has done in his life after contesting for the Presidency for four times. I owe him that duty. I am here because he is my boss and my personal friend.

“We founded APC, I wrote the party’s constitution; today is not for politics, we are here for statesmanship. History is being made today: transition from a sitting President to a respected President.”

Apart from Osoba, former deputy governor of Ogun State, Segun Adesegun; the three APC senators from the state and six members of House of Representatives had about seven months ago defected to the SDP over irreconcilable differences with Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
