Nigerian dancer Poco Lee has spoken publicly for the first time since his release from detention in the United Kingdom, firmly denying the sexual offence allegations against him and offering pointed advice to men.
In a video call with social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), Poco Lee maintained his innocence and described his state of mind while in custody.
“I was being myself, God sees my heart, my only worries out there was my people,” he said.
He added that he would have accepted responsibility if he had committed the alleged offence. “If I to say I do wetin person talk, I for say, Omo I dey suffer for my sins, but as I no do anything, my mind is as pure,” he stated.
Poco Lee expressed gratitude to Burna Boy and Rahman Jago for publicly supporting him at a time when many others kept their distance. “Nobody will probably want to attach themselves with something like this, but for them Burna Boy to stand for me and Rahman Jago,” he said.
He also claimed that some people appeared pleased by his troubles, referring to messages he received that questioned his usual upbeat demeanour.
Turning to broader advice, the dancer urged men to exercise extreme caution in their interactions with women. “Use 18 hours fear women,” he said, suggesting they should dedicate most of their waking hours to being wary of women.
Poco Lee had been detained in the UK over allegations of sexual offences. He has since been released. No further details on the status of any investigation or charges were provided in the interview.
