The Organising Committee of the Gombe Emir’s Cup – King’s Cup 2026 has announced the completion of arrangements for the official opening ceremony of the prestigious football tournament.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Pantami Stadium, Gombe, beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The annual competition continues to serve as a major platform for promoting unity, sportsmanship, youth empowerment, peaceful coexistence, and talent development across Gombe State through football.

The tournament brings together Emirates and Chiefdoms from different parts of the state, creating an avenue for cultural exchange, community engagement, and healthy competition.

According to the organisers, the competition is sponsored by former Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, and is designed to strengthen relationships among football stakeholders across the state while fostering grassroots sports development.

The opening ceremony will officially signal the commencement of the tournament and is expected to attract traditional rulers, government officials, football administrators, participating teams, supporters, and other key stakeholders.

Organisers said the event will celebrate not only football excellence but also the values of unity, peace, and community development that the competition represents.

The Gombe Emir’s Cup 2026 is being organised and sponsored by GWG Sports Center Ltd under the leadership of Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe, whose contributions to youth and sports development continue to provide opportunities for emerging football talents in the state.
