Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Nigeria’s leading commercial bank, has denied reports that its website was seized by hackers.
A top GTB executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, made this disclosure.
The clarification comes amid reports that the bank’s website had been compromised by hackers, resulting in a massive phishing operation and potential interception of customer data.
However, the executive stated that the claim was entirely untrue, clarifying that the bank was experiencing a connectivity issue unrelated to hacking.
He said, “It’s false. What we are experiencing is a connectivity issue and has nothing to do with the alleged hacking”.
