The political atmosphere in Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency of Osun State is gradually heating up ahead of the 2027 general elections as Honourable Paul Bankole, a leading aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), continues to gain widespread acceptance among his constituents.

Last week, Hon. Bankole embarked on a week-long homecoming tour to his hometown, Ada, in Boripe Local Government Area, where he sensitized residents on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The sensitization drive, according to him, was aimed at encouraging eligible voters—particularly first-timers—to register and be prepared to participate actively in the next general elections.

During the visit, Bankole met with key PDP stalwarts in his ward, community leaders, local government and some state executives of the party.

He used the opportunity to formally declare his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency in 2027, assuring stakeholders of his readiness and capacity to deliver purposeful representation if given the mandate.

In what appeared to be a spontaneous show of affection and solidarity, several political associations, youth movements, women groups, and social organizations trooped to his Ada residence throughout the week to pledge their loyalty and support for his ambition.

The atmosphere was electric as well-wishers described Bankole as a grassroots politician with a human face and the man Osun needs at this time.Speaking to our correspondent during the visit, Hon. Bankole expressed deep appreciation to his supporters for their overwhelming show of love.

He reiterated his commitment to championing developmental projects that would have a direct impact on the people across the three local governments that make up the constituency.

“My aspiration is not just about winning an election. It is about redefining representation and making the government work for the people. I have outlined several community-driven projects that will cut across Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo-Otin Federal Constituency. These projects will focus on youth empowerment, rural infrastructure, healthcare access, and educational development,” he stated.

Feelers from political observers and residents in the constituency indicate that Bankole’s homecoming has further strengthened his popularity, with many describing him as the man of the people and the most prepared aspirant for the job.

As the build-up to the 2027 polls continues, Honourable Paul Bankole’s growing influence within the PDP and his increasing grassroots appeal suggest that he may be a major force to watch in Osun’s political landscape.
