Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he personally keeps tabs on media coverage about himself, including comments from those he describes as his “enemies.”

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the outspoken politician said he regularly watches prime-time news across major Nigerian television stations to stay informed on public discourse surrounding his activities.

Wike listed Africa Independent Television (AIT), TVC News, and Channels Television among the stations he follows closely, noting that he prefers firsthand information rather than relying on aides or briefings.

“I watch news all the time — AIT News, TVC News, Channels — I watch all of them,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor emphasised that his approach allows him to directly hear criticisms and opinions about him without filters.

“I don’t wait for anyone to come and tell me what my enemies are saying about me; I hear it by myself,” he added.

Wike further disclosed that his media monitoring routine often stretches late into the night, as he sometimes revisits broadcasts around midnight to ensure he is fully updated before going to bed.

“So you can see that I know the time — even by 12, I still come back to watch everything. I make sure that I watch before I go and sleep,” he said.

His remarks highlight his hands-on approach to information gathering and his keen interest in staying ahead of narratives in Nigeria’s dynamic political landscape.
