Nigerian comedian and content creator Ijoba Lande has opened up about his disappointing experience working with renowned actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele. In a heartfelt video circulating online, Lande recounted being paid just N90,000 after working for an entire month at Amen Estate, despite his excitement about collaborating with the Nollywood star.
āI will not lie; I was excited that I wanted to go and work with Aunty Funke, so I didnāt bother to charge her, so it wonāt look like she wonāt work with me again,ā he said in the emotional video.
He went on to explain that a person who introduced herself as Wendy presented him with a contract. āAfter reading, I saw that every month, I would be collecting 90,000, and I was already there. It is good to be educated. Had it been I am properly educated, I wouldnāt have signed it,ā Lande shared.
He added, āAt first, I thought it was nothing until the month ended and they paid me 90,000 for a whole month.ā
The comedianās revelation has stirred widespread discussion on the treatment of emerging talents in the entertainment industry, particularly when working with well-known figures. Many social media users expressed shock, while others praised Lande for his honesty and transparency.
He concluded his message by urging fellow upcoming entertainers to value their work and negotiate fair compensation regardless of who theyāre working with.
As of now, Funke Akindele has not issued any public response to the allegations.
