Senator Iyabo Obasanjo has taken a significant step toward her governorship ambition in Ogun State, formally briefing President Bola Tinubu during a private meeting in Lagos.
The meeting, held at the president’s residence, focused on Obasanjo’s intention to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to sources familiar with the discussions, she presented her vision for Ogun State, emphasizing governance reforms, development priorities, and improved public service delivery.
Speaking after the meeting, Obasanjo described her engagement with Tinubu as “insightful and forward-looking,” noting that their conversation revolved around leadership, governance, and national as well as state development.
She also reflected on her long-standing political relationship with the president, characterizing it as one grounded in mutual respect and years of collaboration. According to her, this relationship has played a key role in shaping her leadership approach and political trajectory.
During the talks, the former commissioner reaffirmed her commitment to the APC and pledged to mobilize grassroots support for President Tinubu ahead of the next general elections.
