A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Azeez Olajide Adediran, widely known as Jandor, has formally withdrawn from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race, just days after purchasing the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.
Jandor announced his decision on Thursday, describing it as a move driven by conviction, extensive consultations, and a commitment to prioritising the collective interest of the party and the state over personal ambition.
The former aspirant said his withdrawal followed the endorsement of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Hamzat, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and key APC leaders in the state.
He emphasised that his decision should not be interpreted as a sign of weakness or incapacity, but rather as a demonstration of discipline, strength, and respect for party cohesion.
“I remain a loyal and committed member of the APC,” Jandor stated, reaffirming his allegiance to President Tinubu, whom he described as central to the stability and progress of both the party and the nation.
Aligning himself with the party’s direction, Jandor stressed the importance of party supremacy and strategic unity in sustaining the gains achieved over the years.
He also expressed appreciation to members of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, noting that the group’s vision of equity, inclusion, and a better Lagos transcends individual ambition.
Calling for calm among his supporters, Jandor urged party leaders and stakeholders to remain focused and united.
“This is a moment to consolidate, not to divide; to build, not to fracture,” he said.
