The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed its three senatorial candidates for Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 general elections after issuing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Form EC9 to former Senator Shehu Sani, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung and former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero.
The development follows the commencement of the party’s submission of Senate and House of Representatives candidates to the INEC nomination portal after the National Working Committee (NWC) approved the final list of candidates.
The exercise, conducted in compliance with INEC guidelines, also resolved pending nomination issues in states where the party’s primaries had generated disputes, including Ondo, Benue, Kwara and Kogi.
In Kaduna Central Senatorial District, the issuance of Form EC9 to Shehu Sani puts an end to speculation that his candidacy could be replaced before the close of nominations.
Although the former Kaduna Central senator confirmed receiving the form on Monday, he declined to comment further, describing it as premature. On Tuesday, however, he shared a photograph on his WhatsApp status showing Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani presenting him with the INEC Form EC9.
He captioned the post: “Officially the confirmed candidate, In Shaa Allah.”
The move is widely regarded within the APC as confirmation that Shehu Sani remains the party’s official candidate for Kaduna Central.
In Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung also received his INEC Form EC9, confirming his nomination for a second term in the Senate under the APC.
Katung’s media aide, Midat Joseph, confirmed the development on Tuesday.
Katung was elected to the Senate in 2023 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC, citing the developmental projects delivered to his constituency by the administrations of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani as reasons for his decision.
Meanwhile, former Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero received the INEC Form EC9 as the APC’s candidate for Kaduna North Senatorial District.
The issuance of the statutory nomination forms marks a key stage in the electoral process, enabling candidates to complete the documentation required by INEC before the submission deadline for the 2027 general elections.
With Shehu Sani, Sunday Marshall Katung and Mukhtar Ramalan Yero now officially in possession of their INEC nomination forms, the APC has concluded the nomination process for its three senatorial districts in Kaduna State ahead of the 2027 polls.
