The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu, has charged leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikeja Constituency II and Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to intensify grassroots mobilisation and fully embrace the party’s electronic registration initiative.
Kasunmu gave the charge at an Appraisal and Sensitisation meeting held in Ojodu and Ikeja, aimed at motivating ward and council executives while strengthening the party’s structure at the grassroots level. The session also focused on deepening awareness of the APC e-registration process.
Describing the gathering as strategic, Kasunmu said it marked the beginning of a sustained engagement to reposition the APC for growth and stronger internal democracy in Ikeja Constituency II and Ojodu LCDA. He noted that the e-registration exercise is open to all Nigerians willing to join the party, explaining that the initiative is designed to digitalise membership records, eliminate duplication and enhance transparency.
The lawmaker commended federal legislator, Hon. Abiodun Faleke, for his continued support for party activities in the constituency.
To ensure a smooth registration process, Kasunmu donated four tablets, two printers and a sum of N2.5 million to support logistics. He urged party executives to mobilise members across wards, sensitise residents and deliberately encourage youth participation in the exercise.
APC Chairperson in Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Stella Kokumo, praised Kasunmu’s leadership and generosity, describing his intervention as timely. She thanked him for the donations and appealed for further support to address operational challenges encountered during the registration process.
Also speaking, Mrs. Mabel Soremekun of Ojodu LCDA highlighted the need for stable internet connectivity, improved logistics and better welfare for volunteers to enhance the success of the exercise.
Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Dauda, said the sensitisation meeting was convened to galvanise more members into the party. He urged executives to take the campaign to homes, markets and motor parks, stressing the importance of engaging market women, youths and trade unions for wider participation.
“Part of our stakeholders are women and youths. This is an opportunity to return to them now that our party is doing e-registration, so more members can benefit from the Renewed Hope agenda,” Dauda said.
He also announced a donation of N250,000 to each ward in Ikeja to boost mobilisation efforts.
In his remarks, APC Chairman in Ikeja LGA, Alhaji Adekunle Dally-Adeokun, said the meeting focused on strategies to meet membership targets through the e-registration platform.
“We all agreed that we need to work harder. There is no problem we cannot solve. We will include weekends, Saturday and Sunday inclusive, to ensure we achieve our target,” he said.
The event attracted top government and party officials, including the Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Akeem Dauda; the APC Vice Chairman, Prince Ranti Olufon; councillors representing Ikeja Wards A, B, D and E; and other party executives. Proceedings were anchored by the Ward A Chairman, Alhaji Saheed Ekundayo.
