A public snub at a high-profile Lagos event has spotlighted lingering political rivalry in Kosofe Federal Constituency.

At the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium, House of Representatives member Kafilat Ogbara declined a handshake from Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the man who defeated her in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for the same seat.

Oshinowo, former Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, approached the seated lawmaker and extended his hand in greeting. Ogbara turned away and remained seated. In a video of the moment, she can be heard saying, “Welldone, how are you? I cannot shake you.” Oshinowo reacted with visible animation before walking away.

The encounter took place months after Oshinowo secured the APC ticket for Kosofe Federal Constituency in May 2026, positioning him as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general election. Ogbara currently holds the seat in the House of Representatives.

The two politicians have a history of friction, including earlier disputes in 2025 over the demolition of the Owode-Onirin market. The latest incident has drawn fresh attention to the unresolved tensions within the constituency following the APC primary.

Oshinowo is expected to fly the APC flag in Kosofe in 2027, pending the completion of relevant electoral processes.
