Reality TV star and rapper Laycon has revealed that he struggled internally after winning the 2020 edition of Big Brother Naija, saying he temporarily “lost his inner voice” following his sudden rise to fame.
Laycon, whose real name is Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba, made the revelation in a video where he spoke about the emotional and psychological impact of his post-reality-show life.
“Has the world ever gone silent on you and all you have left was your own thoughts?” the rapper asked while recounting his experience.
According to the artist, the internal disconnect began after he emerged winner of the popular reality TV show in 2020.
“I have been there and I want to share a part of that experience with you. After I won Big Brother Naija in 2020, I lost my inner voice,” he said.
Laycon explained that he only rediscovered that sense of inner clarity in December 2021 after his sold-out concert, The Icons Fest.
The rapper said that when the voice finally returned, it confronted him with difficult questions about his life and happiness.
“The voice kept asking me questions like, ‘Is this really how you want to live? Are you enjoying yourself? What’s next after this? Are you happy?’,” he recalled.
According to him, those questions prompted a period of solitude and deep reflection.
Laycon said the experience helped him uncover important truths about himself and encouraged him to take personal accountability.
He emphasised that moments of silence and solitude are essential for self-growth, urging his fans to make time for reflection and honest conversations with themselves.
The rapper noted that such personal introspection, although uncomfortable at times, can lead to meaningful self-awareness and positive change.
