Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has spoken out against what she described as hurtful and damaging rumours circulating within the entertainment industry, saying the false claims have deeply affected her.
In a statement shared on Instagram, the actress condemned the spread of falsehoods, stressing that lies about individuals can be emotionally destructive and unjustified.
Olayode questioned the motive behind the rumours, saying she had largely ignored similar claims in the past but decided to speak up after hearing one that “truly broke” her heart.
“There have been different stories and lies told about me in this industry. I never addressed any, but I heard one a few days ago that truly broke my heart,” she wrote.
“I don’t think people understand how destructive some words can be and how words can wound. I genuinely don’t understand why anyone would choose to lie about another human being. To what end? Why?”
The actress reiterated her long-held position against kissing in movies, explaining that the decision is based on her personal faith and consecration to God, not professional limitations.
She clarified that she remains open to working with any producer or director, provided the story and her role align with her values.
“It is true that I wouldn’t kiss in movies. It’s okay if you don’t like me. It’s okay if you say I’m not a good actor. It’s okay if you don’t want to work with me. But lying about me is deeply wrong and hurtful,” she said.
“So I want to clear the air. There is absolutely no producer or director I cannot work with. None. I am open and willing to work with anyone, as long as the story and my role do not go against my consecration to God.”
Olayode’s statement has since sparked conversations online about faith, boundaries and professionalism within Nollywood.
