Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday met with families of the victims abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, assuring them that security agencies are working tirelessly to secure the safe release of their loved ones.

The meeting, held in Ahoro-Esiele community, brought together relatives of the abductees, community leaders, and concerned residents amid growing anxiety over the incident.

Addressing the gathering, Makinde acknowledged the pain and uncertainty being experienced by the affected families, stressing that his administration remains fully committed to bringing the victims home safely.

“I understand that words alone cannot ease your pain, but I want to assure you that we are doing everything within our power. Since this incident occurred, I have been holding security meetings twice daily and working closely with all relevant security agencies,” the governor said.

He reaffirmed his determination to ensure the abductees regain their freedom, declaring that the state government would spare no effort in the ongoing rescue operation.

“We will push beyond every limit until all abductees are rescued,” he assured.

Makinde condemned the actions of the kidnappers, describing the abduction as cruel, unacceptable, and inhumane regardless of any grievances the perpetrators may claim to have.

The governor also paid tribute to security personnel, particularly members of the Amotekun Corps, noting that nearly 200 operatives have lost their lives combating crime across Oyo State since the outfit was established.

Speaking on behalf of the affected families, Prof. Wole Alamu appealed to the governor to intensify efforts toward securing the victims’ release. Another relative, Mr. Aliu Saidi, echoed the plea, urging authorities to act swiftly.

Following his address to the larger audience, Makinde held a closed-door session with parents and relatives of the abducted pupils and teachers, where he provided updates on ongoing rescue efforts.

The abduction has further heightened security concerns in the area, with residents calling for stronger measures to curb kidnapping activities, particularly along Oyo State’s border communities.
