Manchester City secured a dominant 2-0 victory over Arsenal to lift the League Cup, capitalising on a costly goalkeeping error at Wembley on Sunday.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga mishandled a cross from Rayan Cherki, allowing the ball to slip through his grasp and fall kindly to Nico O’Reilly, who made no mistake in slotting home.

O’Reilly struck again just four minutes later, sealing the win and capping an impressive performance that delivered City their ninth League Cup title.

The triumph also marked a record fifth League Cup success for manager Pep Guardiola, further cementing his legacy in English football.

City’s clinical display and Arsenal’s defensive lapse proved decisive in a final that ultimately swung on a single moment of error.
