Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam 1, has successfully brokered a peace agreement between National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) National President Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) and Lagos State Chairman Mustapha Adekunle (Tafa Sego).
The reconciliation meeting took place at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, and was attended by several NURTW chieftains. Kwam 1 announced the development on Tuesday via his Instagram page, sharing photographs from the gathering.
“After years of an age-long rift, MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego have finally settled their differences. And from what we know now, this is final,” the post stated. It emphasised that the meeting went beyond a mere photo opportunity: “This time, it was not just another handshake for the cameras. The two old friends and colleagues came together at Ojusagbola, with King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1) playing the peacemaker.”
Kwam 1 intervened in his capacity as Mayegun of Yorubaland, seeking a definitive end to the long-standing disagreement. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcome.
The two men, once allies in the Lagos NURTW, have been locked in a protracted leadership dispute. Tensions boiled over publicly in January 2019 when violence erupted at an APC campaign rally in Ikeja, Lagos. MC Oluomo was among those injured and later hospitalised after being stabbed; police declared Sego wanted in connection with the incident. By September 2019, however, Sego had been appointed to the caretaker committee of the NURTW under MC Oluomo’s leadership.
Friction resurfaced in subsequent years over control of the Lagos chapter. In January 2024, MC Oluomo resigned as Lagos State chairman amid a power struggle, following intervention by then-Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other officials.
A fresh public flashpoint occurred earlier this year at Kwam 1’s New Year All White Party in Lagos on 2 January 2026. Video footage showed members linked to Sego’s camp reacting after the musician publicly acknowledged MC Oluomo as head of the NURTW, sparking a commotion. Kwam 1 subsequently appealed for unity among the union leaders.
The latest meeting at Ojusagbola marks the resolution of that long-running rift, facilitated by the same figure whose event had earlier highlighted the tensions.
