The family of late Ogbomosho teacher Michael Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by kidnappers in Oyo State, has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians to stop sharing graphic videos and personal family details online.

In a heartfelt statement signed by Olaoluwa Oyedokun on behalf of the family, relatives expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers, sympathy, and support since the tragic incident. They also acknowledged the goodwill of individuals and organizations providing financial assistance during this painful period.

However, the family stressed that their primary concern remains the safe release of other victims still held captive and the recovery of Michael Oyedokun’s remains to allow for a dignified burial.

“We kindly appeal to the public to allow the family the time and privacy needed to mourn and navigate this difficult situation,” the statement read.

The family noted that the teacher left behind a grieving wife and two young sons, who deserve compassion and protection as they cope with their devastating loss. They urged the public to stop sharing personal photos, private details, and other sensitive information on social media, emphasizing that the continuous circulation of such content has worsened their trauma.

Oyedokun, who was abducted during attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has become a symbol of the nation’s outrage over rising kidnappings. Many Nigerians continue to call for urgent government action to secure the release of those still in captivity.
