A United States Congressman, Rep. Riley Moore, has disclosed that the United States will closely monitor Nigeria’s 2027 general election, including the conduct of the electoral process.

Moore made the statement during an interview with Noire TV on Saturday while responding to questions about the forthcoming elections in Nigeria and whether the United States would play any role in supporting the country’s democratic process.

According to the US lawmaker, Washington is keenly interested in how the elections will be conducted and will observe both the process and the eventual outcome.

“We will be paying close attention to Nigeria’s 2027 election,” Moore said.

He added that the United States would closely monitor how the elections unfold and whether they are conducted in a credible and transparent manner.

“We are certainly going to be watching these results and how these elections will unfold and how they are executed, and that is something that myself and my administration will pay very close attention to,” he stated.

Moore’s comments come as political activities ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general election gradually gather momentum, with stakeholders expected to intensify preparations in the coming months.
