Nollywood actress Nkiru Umeh has publicly responded to mounting speculation linking her romantically to actor Frederick Leonard, as controversy surrounding the actor’s personal life continues to dominate conversations on social media.
The actress took to Instagram to share a video accompanied by a brief but pointed message that many interpreted as a reaction to the ongoing allegations.
“Uwa enwe nmeta (You can’t please the world). It is well,” she wrote.
Her post comes amid widespread online discussions triggered by claims that Frederick Leonard was involved in a relationship with a married woman. As the controversy gained traction, social media users revisited a past birthday tribute Umeh dedicated to the actor, fueling further speculation about the nature of their relationship.
In the resurfaced message, Umeh described Leonard as a longtime friend of more than a decade, commending his loyalty, consistency, and down-to-earth personality. She noted that their friendship had been built on mutual respect, trust, and genuine affection over the years.
Responding to the tribute at the time, Leonard expressed deep appreciation for Umeh, stating that he would choose her as a friend again “in another life.” He described her as family and highlighted their 13-year friendship.
The renewed scrutiny follows allegations made by Leonard’s estranged wife, actress Peggy Ovire. Ovire accused the actor of maintaining a relationship with a married woman and claimed the alleged affair had complicated and delayed their divorce process.

Additionally, Ovire urged the actor to appear before a customary court on June 23, alleging that he had previously failed to attend scheduled proceedings.
The controversy has reignited public interest in the couple’s marriage, which began with a high-profile wedding ceremony in Asaba, Delta State, in November 2022.
Adding to the public debate, a video from their wedding celebration recently resurfaced online. In the clip, Ovire passionately defended Leonard’s character, insisting he was neither a cheat nor a womaniser and describing herself as fortunate to be married to him.
