The Lagos State Government has formally installed Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu as the new Onise of Ise Kingdom in the Lekki Local Government Area of the state.
Oba Saliu received the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment on Friday, officially marking the beginning of his reign as His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu.
The presentation was carried out by the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Rural Development, Dr Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs Kikelomo Bolarinwa.
The state government announced the development in a statement shared on its official X handle on Saturday.
The installation followed the approval of Governor Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council after the death of the former Onise of Ise Kingdom, Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Agbaje charged the new monarch to make peace, unity and inclusive development the pillars of his reign.
He urged Oba Saliu to foster reconciliation among members of the different royal families and promote initiatives aimed at advancing the collective interests of Ise Kingdom.
Agbaje also congratulated the monarch on his ascension, expressing optimism that his reign would usher in greater peace, unity and prosperity for the community.
Earlier, Bolarinwa welcomed traditional rulers and other dignitaries to the ceremony and commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for approving the presentation of the Staff of Office.
According to her, the gesture reflects the Lagos State Government’s commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and driving development at the grassroots.
