The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja to renew his diplomatic passport.

The revered traditional ruler was received by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mrs. Kemi Nandap, alongside members of the service’s management team.

The visit was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi, and signed at the NIS headquarters in Abuja.

According to the statement, the monarch used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service for ongoing reforms being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“He expressed appreciation for policies aimed at strengthening migration management, border governance, and service delivery within the Nigeria Immigration Service,” the statement said.

The Ooni particularly praised what he described as transformative initiatives being carried out by the service, noting that the reforms reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to repositioning the immigration system through modernisation and institutional efficiency.

The Nigeria Immigration Service has in recent months rolled out several reforms, including the digitalisation of passport services, enhanced border surveillance, and the restructuring of migration management processes under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior.

According to the NIS, these efforts have continued to attract positive feedback from stakeholders and prominent national figures, including the Ooni of Ife, as the service works to improve operational effectiveness and public service delivery.
