The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has relocated its operations to its permanent secretariat in the Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti following an alleged eviction from its rented office.
The party’s rented secretariat located along Ikere-Ekiti Road in the Ajilosun axis was reportedly sealed by the landlord without a court order, with party property still inside the premises at the time of the action.
In response, the PDP moved its activities to its long-owned permanent secretariat within the same area.
Although parts of the building are still undergoing finishing works, party officials say operations have fully resumed at the new location.
Addressing journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Tunji Odeyemi, alleged that the landlord, whom he described as sympathetic to the All Progressives Congress (APC), locked the rented facility while party property remained inside.
He characterised the development as improper and regrettable.
Odeyemi, however, maintained that the party remains undeterred and confident about its political prospects, expressing optimism ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.
“For long, this place has belonged to the PDP. The structure was built through contributions from party faithful across Nigeria, yet we kept paying rent elsewhere. We realised there was no reason to continue when we already have our own building,” he said.
He added that full mobilisation efforts would commence once the party’s governorship candidate is officially announced.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Oluyede Campaign Team, Ogundipe Komolafe, described the relocation as significant, alleging attempts by the current administration to restrict opposition activities in the state.
Komolafe said the permanent secretariat would now serve as a mobilisation hub for members across Ekiti’s 16 local government areas, noting that grassroots engagement has intensified in preparation for the 2026 governorship contest.
He urged party members to remain focused and united ahead of the election.
