As part of World Oral Health Day 2026 celebrations, Pepsodent, a leading oral hygiene advocate, launched a school activation campaign in 51 schools across 17 states, promoting healthy oral habits among Nigerian children.
The campaign ran simultaneously in cities including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Calabar, Uyo, Benin City, Abeokuta, Sagamu, Ondo Town, Awka, Yenagoa, Keffi, and others, giving pupils hands-on experiences that emphasized the importance of good dental care.
Observed annually on March 20, World Oral Health Day aims to empower individuals with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to maintain good oral health—a vital part of overall well-being and quality of life.
Speaking at the Lagos activation held at Temidire Primary School, Oke-Odo, Alimosho, Pepsodent Brand Manager Lauretta Amie highlighted the campaign’s focus on preventive care, particularly among children. She stressed that combining education with interactive learning helps students grasp the importance of brushing correctly, reducing sugar intake, and attending regular dental check-ups.
“Maintaining healthy teeth isn’t just a once-in-a-while activity; it’s about building daily habits that protect smiles and overall health. Our ‘Do The 2’ campaign encourages brushing twice a day—morning and night—as a simple, achievable habit,” Amie said.
Local education and health officials praised the initiative. Dr. Aminat Ige, Alimosho Local Government Education Secretary, commended Pepsodent for taking oral health awareness directly to schools, while Dental Surgeon Dr. Abraham Akinbami praised the focus on children, noting it fosters lasting behavioral change.
Moninuola Lawal, Headteacher at Temidire Primary School, described the campaign as a transformative experience for pupils and staff, emphasizing how children can influence household habits and help families adopt better oral care routines.
Through this nationwide effort, Pepsodent reinforces its commitment to expanding access to oral health education and instilling preventive care practices among young Nigerians, empowering children to maintain healthy teeth and overall well-being for life.
