Afrobeats star Peter Okoye has opened up about why he no longer marks his birthday on November 18, the date he shares with his twin brother Paul Okoye, and instead celebrates on November 30.

Speaking on the Capital XTRA Podcast, the former P-Square member described November 18 as a day that has brought him little joy for nearly two decades. He said the date became associated with tension and unwanted drama linked to joint birthday gatherings with his twin.

According to Peter, visitors would often stop first at Paul’s house to discuss issues involving him before proceeding to his own residence. The repeated pattern, he explained, turned what should have been a celebratory day into an annual source of discomfort.

“I changed my birthday from November 18th to November 30th because for 16-17 years, it’s been the worst day of my life. People go to Paul’s house to gossip about me before coming to my side. I wish I could change it on my documents and passport,” Peter said.

The revelation comes against the backdrop of the brothers’ well-documented relationship struggles. The twins first parted ways in 2017, briefly reunited in 2021, and went their separate ways again in 2024. Peter’s decision to mark a different date underscores how personal milestones have been affected by the ongoing rift.
