The emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sunusi II, has stripped the eldest son of the late Emir Ado Bayero, Lamido Bayero, of his traditional title of Ciroman Kano and District Head of Gwale.
Announcing the sacking of the late Bayero’s son from his position, the Galadima of Kano, Abbas Sanusi said ” the late Bayero son, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero did not respect the traditional institution of Kano”.
Emir Sanusi had few months after ascending the throne, wrote to Mr. Bayero, seeking him to return to his duty as Ciroman Kano and District Head of Gwale.
However, Mr. Bayero’s was said to have neither replied the letter or report to the palace, a decision that reportedly angered the emir.
The issue however died down when Mr. Bayero was appointed managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
But when Mr. Bayero was recently relieved of his duty as managing director of the NPA by President Muhammadu Buhari, the emir directed the Emirate Council to write to Mr. Bayero again.
“When a letter was written to him again, he neither responded nor appeared in person to explain his reasons.
In the statement announcing his sack, a new Ciroma Kano in the person of Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero was appointed.
The appointment of Nasiru Bayero, who is a younger brother to the one sacked palace sources said is to douse tension in the palace.
Already, the state police commissioner has deployed hundred of police officers around the palace of the Emir to forestall any trouble in the state.
